The ninth season of Passages at the Paramount continues on Sunday January 8th at 3:00 PM with a new approach between the Paramount and Young Concert Artists, Inc. The concert will feature two Young Concert Artists from their roster: Narek Arutyunian, clarinetist and Yun-Chin Zhou, pianist.
Clarinetist Narek Arutyunian is an artist who “reaches passionate depths with seemingly effortless technical prowess and beguiling sensitivity” (The Washington Post). He received his Bachelor’s degree from the Juilliard School and he is currently a Master’s candidate at the Manhattan School of Music. Arutyunian’s clarinet is a personal gift from the conductor and violinist Vladimir Spivakov.
Pianist Yun-Chin Zhou, whose given name means pure melody, has been hailed as a “dashing virtuoso … complete with dazzling fingerwork and shapely phrasing” (Cleveland Plain Dealer).Mr. Zhou began his piano studies at the age of seven. From the age of 19, he studied at the Curtis Institute of Music with Gary Graffman and Robert McDonald, with whom he continues his studies at the Juilliard School.
